Geez! I have been slacking with my blog. But hey... it still active and will be active I promise!
So, April is School Library Month. In celebration of the event, I started with Trivia Question and Answer Contest which is broadcasted daily on our in-school morning news. Students will answer question about library, books, technology, and more. Daily winner will receive a special prize from me. The contest is open to all students from PreK-6th grades. I will be posting my Q&A section in the library when I go back to work tomorrow.
But before I go to bed, I would like to share this wonderful site for your class. It is fun, interactive, and really cool! Ask your student's feedback about the lesson then share their thoughts and quotes in one sentence or even a word as an image or a shared link.
Here is my quote of the day....

Election Wordle
November 6th, is the most awaited event in USA. Election 2012 is a blood bath between two parties who according to them will do better job for the economy. I sincerely hope that someday, these politicians will fund reading and literacy initiatives than running billions of ads for their own agenda. Anyways, this year is going to be a history in the making once again.
While we prepare for this election, I told my students to create a word cloud using Wordle. I met with one of my fifth grade classes then I discussed Wordle in the computer lab. I instructed them to create word clouds using the word "election". Define, describe, and differentiate "election" using their own words. So, they came up with these ideas:

My First Voki
I started building my school library website last year using Google sites. I finally created a multimedia tool to reach out to students and parents online. I used my own voice (with a cute accent) to tell kids how to take good care of their library books. I created this within an hour, plugged my microphone, wrote a brief script, embedded to my web page, and there it is!!!! A simple interactive message for all!
Library Book Display
After the storm, I will come back to work to set-up a book display corner. This will allow me to show books that are never opened or even borrowed from my library shelves.
But as of now, I am enjoying this two days vacation. Frankenstorm is here!
Frankenstorm in East Coast
It took a storm for me to create a blog about my life as a library media specialist here in the USA. All the scary warnings about the storm made me realize that I am bored, late at night around 12:30 a.m., listening to heavy rainfall. I just hoped that I will not lose my power. I have been creating a blog since 2001 but I think I will be very, very serious about this one.
I have been in the US since 2008. I’ve witnessed history in the making when President Barack Obama was nominated and won the election. I have experienced the painstaking cold season and the burning hot summer. I love autumn though! First time I saw snow, I felt like I was in a different planet. I have been a library media specialist for five years now, and I am loving it!!!
I would like to reach out to my fellow Filipino media specialist here and around the world. I would to benchmark, collaborate, and share ideas with all of you.
Knowing that we are far away from home and experiencing this dreadful disaster. Oooopss, this is nothing compared to Philippines. But the reality is, we prepare for disaster before it even hit us.
